Turmeric Rice - Fluffy and Flavorful

Liven Up Your Rice with Turmeric

Perfect Turmeric Rice

Turmeric is an Indian herb which can be easily found amongst other spices in the grocery store. While the vibrant golden color may look like this spice could pack a fiery punch, be assured that turmeric has a welcoming mild flavor. With just a couple additional compatible ingredients, the end result of this recipe will be an appetizing and fluffy turmeric rice.

Serves: 6-8

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Cook Time: 20 Minutes

Suggested Tools:

· Large skillet with lid

· Stir spoon

· Cutting board

. Sieve strainer (for rice)

· Sharp knife

· Measuring cups

· Measuring spoons

Ingredients:

· 2 cup long grained rice or basmati or jasmine rice (after rinsed in water)

· 4 cups chicken broth

· 3 Tablespoons butter

· ¼ cup white onion or shallots peeled and finely chopped

· 1 Tablespoon fresh garlic peeled and finely minced

· 1 Teaspoon turmeric

· 1 Teaspoon dried or fresh parsley

· Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Set the heat on low and melt the butter in the large skillet and sauté the onion and garlic, stirring occasionally.

2. Add the turmeric and parsley and stir well. Then add the rice and salt and pepper and mix well.

3. Add the broth, turn the heat up to medium and bring the mixture to a boil. Then turn the heat down to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes or until steam holes appear on top of the rice.

4. Once cooked, take the skillet off of the heat, keeping the lid on the skillet and allow the rice to rest for at least five minutes.

Note: Keeping the lid on the skillet allows the already trapped moisture in the skillet to absorb further into the rice, making for a very fluffy rice.

5. Serve immediately and enjoy.
